Why my Children love McDonald's and Happy Meals...
So Saturday after chores and Amanda's volleyball game, I promised the girls a trip to the park and the dollar store. It was such a beautiful day to be outdoors! We went to one of the local neighborhood parks and picked up McD's on the way. While we were eating, I asked my kids why McD's? I mean, I love their fries, but can only eat so many of them a week. We pushed the limit this week with Frank in Singapore, but their responses were great. My individual conversations with each of them went something like this: "Justine, why do you like chicken McNuggets?" After several moments of silence and watching the wheels churn in her head, she replied: "They"re crunchy?" I mean after several moments I was expecting a little bit more insight than they are crunchy. I asked her to expound and she said, "I don't know I just like them." Talk about brainwash. Brother. So, here was Natalie. "Natalie, why do you always order chocolate milk and a hamburger without cheese and pickles?" Loudly sucking on her straw..."It's my usual." That was her reply. OK, note to self too much McD's is a bad thing...brain damage. I was expecting a bit more from Amanda being older. "Amanda, why do you like the fruit and yogurt parfait?" She stared at me blankly and shrugged, "I don't know." At least that's what I think she said...it was a bit muffled. So not ready for the tween/teen phase. So, there you have it. No new insights. I'm a firm believer that McD's is a master at advertising. The kids don't know why they like it, just that they "do." Bravo.

The drug of choice from mine is Wendy's. They won't stand for McD's. Only Wendy's and Chick Fil A. You can give the toy back and get a free cone there. That much I know. :-)
