Gardening

This post is in honor of my Dad! I had to show off the progress of my new garden site that my dad helped me with on his last visit here a couple of weeks ago. Look Dad, the peppers are growing, cucumbers, squash, artichoke and grapes. It has been a real struggle for me to "relearn" gardening in Arizona. The growing season is so different than what I grew up with that it's taken me 4 years to finally start getting the knack of it. Allbeit, I getting used to the geckos/lizards that hang out in the garden. That has been weird for me, but everyone tells me that if they hang out in your yard it's a good thing. As long as they stay away from my feet and eat the bugs - it's cool with me. Also, I had fun weeding, tilling and playing with the dirt. It reminded me of all the times my dad let us help him irrigate his garden. I stand in awe of the things my parents grow and only hope someday to get near as good as them. Can you tell that I want a green thumb? I was thinking about it today being Earth Day and all. I'm so grateful that I have parents who taught me the importance of self-reliance and what a beautiful world we have. I hope that I can pass that legacy on to my girls too. Thanks Dad and Mom. I love you!

I love that garden space. I am so envious. This is the third year with no garden. SO SAD!!!
