Camping
I'm finally recovered from our camping trip over the weekend. It sure does take alot to get ready so I was glad that we stayed the weekend and could enjoy not setting up or taking down in a day! We have been in Arizona 4 years now and have never been in the North Eastern part of the state. Boy, do I feel like I've missed out on something! The drive up through the Apache Reservation, Salt River Canyon and the White Mountains was absolutely gorgeous. The White Mountains reminded me of home and the kind of camping I enjoyed growing up. We had to stop at the canyon to take a couple of pictures. I read that it is the "mini Grand Canyon" and has rock formations older than the Cambrian period of the Grand Canyon. It was breathtaking. We found our campsite, it was nice, but far to close to the town of Lakeside. The map I looked at was deceiving...the camp host let us "upgrade" our site since the one I picked was behind Mama Bear's Restaurant. Frank got a good laugh over that. After setting up camp and getting dinner ready, we enjoyed sitting around the fire and talking. The next morning as we were eating breakfast the cops kept circling the campground and were stopping to talk to all of our fellow campers except for us. We kept egging Amanda on about what it could be and she was so frightened that some crazy person was loose and we should pack up right now and go home. LOL I'm not sure what it was, but I think it had to do with squatters in the campsite across from us. They slept in their truck with a sheet tied between two brooms and had a dresser in the back. It was bizarre. The dresser thing got me as they would take it out of the truck during the day and leave it in the campsite. I love people watching! We went to Scott Resevoir to fish that day and didn't catch anything, but the guys next to us kept catching stuff so the kids thought that was cool. I don't think fishing is Frank's thing, but he was real patient with the girls and all their snags and crossed lines. I just sat back and smiled. The weather was great and we all got sunburned. It was nice just to relax and not have a lot of pressure to get things done. I'm hoping we can camp another time this summer.

How much fun! I can't wait till its warm enough here to camp. Frank had a bonfire going on there...had to burn the hair off his legs. ha ha.
Hi there, thanks for visiting and leaving a comment:) and if you haven't heard it in a while...welcome to Arizona. I am a native and still enjoy the diversity of this state of ours. I did some camping many years ago but was sissy style (motor home). There is nothing like being out in nature...totally refreshing.
MMMMMmmmm...I love tinfoil dinners...looks like you guys had fun!
