Midnight Twilight Mania

So Laurel and I braved the midnight showing of Twilight last night or early this morning I should say. I was going to the 9:30 am showing today, but had scheduling conflicts and gave my ticket away for that one. I'm still recovering from the flu, blood being drawn and now a nasty cold, but that didn't stop me from attending a much anticipated movie adaptation from a book. So with bulky sweater stuffed with tissues and cough drops I met Laurel at the theatre as soon as I got the go ahead from Frank that his plane had landed from Dallas and he was on the 202 home (Yes, I left my kids in bed for about 20 minutes alone). Since we weren't insane like the mob of people lining up at 4pm for a midnight showing we ended up on the second row in 1 of 9 theatres. I was expecting the teens to be crazy, but they were pretty mild except for the couple on our row that were exploring every possible form of PDA possible. The mom in me wanted to sit between them! AnyWHO, Twilight was good. I didn't have high expectations and initally went in not liking who they cast for Edward, but I have to say his acting was far superior to the girl playing Bella. Did you notice how she never changes facial expressions? Only her breathing got heavier in tense situations??? I loved the cinematography! The aerial shots were great, liked the way they portrayed speed and abilities of the Cullens. Loved Charlie! Saved the day in my opinion. Mike and Jessica were pretty much what I imagined. Stephenie's cameo was cheesy at best...way too obvious. My beefs with the movie version? Not enough face time with the Cullens! Major elements from the book left out ie: fainting from blood during labs, Edwards reference to why he likes twilight(duh the title of book) and little character development. If you haven't read the book the characters will seem flat. It reminded me of the first Harry Potter adaptation. Hopefully, they make a second one and the characters get more developed. I guess it could have been much worse. I'll see it again just to get in Edward. Robbie kinda grows on you...just don't get me started on Jacob ughh still shark boy with really really white teeth :).

Oh! Thanks for the review! I hadn't decided whether or not to see it yet. I really didn't like the casting for Edward. Alice is cute though.

I'm waiting to see what a few other friends think too cuz Mimi wants to go see it. What do you think for an 11 year old? Would you let Amanda see it?

You're such a wild girl! lol! Glad you made it to the showing - even if the front row was a neck jerker! probably made the speed even better! JB

I decided to let Amanda see it. Just a few things that might cause pause (bad rhyming): killing of James at end and kissing in her room, but I honestly think Amanda will cover her eyes because it still grosses her out a bit. Still thinking about the movie though - so it probably wasn't that bad. Right? Love Emmett and Alice! Wanted more of them :).

I am so jealous! I have to wait until MONDAY!!!! We have friends in town and were heading to Seattle for the Seahawks game this weekend....I told Mike Monday is DATE night. I will dream of Edward for weeks because he is dreamy...I saw Kristen Steward on NBC Good Morning and thought she acted kinda bad for promoting the movie. I will have to email you more since this is just a post!

All i can say is "Yup" That about sums it up. I have to say that the 2nd time around it was better. Bella is still flat. She just speaks in such a monotone voice. It is really annoying. Oh well. It was still fun sneaking out in the middle of the night to go do something "Twilight" with you. =)
