I'm a little stressed about participating in field day this Saturday with Amanda, so Frank took us up into the Superstitions to target shoot and show Amanda how to handle the 243 she will be carrying around. I was not thrilled to take Hunter's Safety, but have learned alot and have a better respect for the sport and now know more about guns than I ever did :). It was a beautiful day and I was really surprised at how green the desert is right now. I even found a few flowers starting to poke through on the shrubs. It only lasted a few minutes as we were told we were on state trust land and weren't actively hunting (targets set up were a dead give away) thanks to the kind gentlemen on his horse (why weren't we doing that? looked more fun). Girls were mad; Amanda was the only one who got a shot off. Justine was just happy collecting her "crystal rocks" and Natalie was picking up empty shells and clay discs from previous hunts. I can see where people get tired of hunters - there was alot of evidence of sloppy use of the desert and it really was sad. Anyways, we cleaned up some trash, learned how to hold the guns properly and got a good laugh over Amanda trying to cover up all the snake holes with big rocks and Natalie going behind her and kicking them off. Those two...one day...hope you enjoy our desert pics!
