I'll be the first to admit that I do not have a single original idea when it comes to style and crafts...I copy everything (gasp). I haven't really been into "projects" lately as too many are stacked up in the corner of my would-be-sitting area in my bedroom. Yet, I was intrigued by a picture my friend Tiffany showed me when we were boxing up her scrapbooking stuff for her move. It was an idea from Williams and Sonoma catalog - eggs in a nest under a hurricane vase. It was nice, but the price of $30-45 for them was ridiculous. So, inspiration struck yesterday as I was picking up envelopes at JoAnn's. They had cute little birds nests on sale for $5.99 and the hurricane vases I found there were $6.99. This is what I came up with:

I used 6 inch cardboard cake rounds by Wilton, glue gun and self-adhedsive brown felt for the cake round. The hardest part was getting my nests to fit under the hurricane vase. I ended up trimming the nest and hot gluing the vase to the felt round.

From start to finish it took less than 15 minutes for me to assemble them and I took down some greenery to add around the base. If I have time (and remember), I think a more mossy look would be better, but I'm pleased with my craftiness and it only cost me $29 to make 2 of them!
