Today was a beautiful day for a bike ride. One of the nice things about Winter in Arizona is the cool, yet sunny days that are perfect for biking and walking. Frank surprised me at Christmas with a new bike. Well, actually, it was my birthday present (they drew a nice bike and put it in a card for me)that I got at Christmas. I have been enjoying my 30 minutes of exercise wandering around our community, feeding the ducks, and roaming the endless footpaths.
It got me thinking today of how much I enjoyed riding a bike in Germany during the 90s on my LDS mission. I had an amazing red bike with a basket. Times were simplistic and slower. I was wishing for cute little shops to fill my current bicycle basket with. I have also been reminiscing about Europe and how much I love the lifestyle. Maybe it is because Frank is off for a week in London and Amsterdam on business and I could go, but the kids have too many activities that need coordinating! I can't complain...I was biking all around Hyde Park last Summer.
Anyways, I'm rambling, but bikes are lovely. Amanda has been "borrowing" mine to wander out on her own. It's been good thinking time for her and she's been taking her sisters to the park to play soccer. She's a good girl, but I am so glad that my teen years are as the Germans say Vorbei(past ...it just sounds cool auf Deutsch).

Paul and I are headed to England in March. I have been thinking of you and your many trips (it seems) there. Did you rent the bike for Hyde Park? That sounds lovely. Send me your favorite places to go if you think of it. I'm so glad you are starting to update your blog, just as I have learned google reader.
March is a beautiful time to go! It's hard to say where to start. I don't think you could see it all in one trip as I'm discovering new things each time we go. This last time we did the London Eye, little Venice in Westminster parish, British Library off of Kings Crossing (free and fabulous), Lake District, and West End for a show. You can't go wrong! We stayed in Paddington...not my favorite area given that it is heavily influenced by the middle east now and I felt more like I was in Dubai than Europe, but some of the restaurants were nice. You can rent the bikes almost anywhere, pick up one place and drop off another. I think it was 1 or 2 pounds a day. Not bad and fun!
Good stuff! Yes, I keep reminding Paul that we have to go back. He wants to fit it all in because it is his first time but I know it is not possible. Excellent price on the biking. Good to know...we are so excited. Have you read Her Fearful Symmetry? I keep thinking about the cemetery in that book and want to see it. So much to do.
I need to bike more. You make it sounds so fun. I am planning a bike trip around Bear Lake this summer with Russ Porters wife, Angela, and John Anderson's wife, Kari. I'm really excited about it. We are calling it the Oreo Ride...As we plan to eat a lot of Oreo's on our little adventure. :)
